4 Decorating Tips To Help Your Child’s Room Grow As They Do
10/25/2017
Kids are known to change their personal tastes from minute to minute. When it comes to decorating their room these constant changes can ultimately be very costly and exhausting. We have provided some tips to help you design a bedroom that will grow with your child but still allow them to express who they are.
Invest in Timeless Furniture:
Look for furniture that you could see keeping in your home for years to come. Instead of buying child-sized items, consider buying items that your child will grow into. If you have space, you could possibly invest in a double bed over a single to accommodate various sleeping arrangements and visiting guests.
Choose Multifunctional Furniture:
This tip requires thinking outside of a box a bit. For example, instead of purchasing a standard changing table, consider purchasing a desk or dresser that can be fitted with a padded changing mat. It can be used as a changing table for the time being, but once your child is ready to start school the pad can be removed and it now can be a desk. Another idea is when you’re shopping for a bed, consider looking for one that has storage underneath to put away all of those toys!
Keep Pricy Design Elements Neutral:
When designing a room, there a few things that you want to stand the test of time. Some of these include rugs, various furniture, and paint colors. So, instead of painting a baby’s room pink or blue, consider an option that has staying power. We recommend neutrals here that are classic to accent your furniture and floor coverings. Along with that, if you’re purchasing an expensive decorative item, ask yourself if it will quickly become outdated. If the answer is yes, we recommend skipping it, as you probably won’t get as much use out of it.
Keep Your Child Involved:
A room is a space that your child will be spending most of their time in, so it’s important that they feel at home. Remind your child that while their room is intact theirs, that it’s also part of the house as a whole. The better your child feels about their space, the more likely it’ll be taken care of for a long period to come.
All in all, when it comes to kids, nothing is permanent. They are constantly changing their favorite colors, foods, and style. Their rooms shouldn’t be any different, as they will change with time. Following these tips will help you design a room that grows along with your child. As always, we hope you enjoyed these tips! Be sure to like us on Facebook and feel free to ask us any questions!
